MAOC-N Executive Director Attends G7 FOGG Plenary in Paris

The Executive Director of MAOC-N participated in the G7 Friends of the Gulf of Guinea (FOGG) plenary session held in Paris on 15 and 16 April, where discussions addressed a range of issues impacting maritime safety and security in the region.

During the session, the Director presented the growing threats linked to drug trafficking routes between South America and the Gulf of Guinea, as well as their wider implications for West Africa. He highlighted the increasing use of maritime and coastal corridors by organised crime groups, underlining the complexity and adaptability of transnational trafficking networks.

The Executive Director attended the meeting at the invitation of the organisers, under the joint leadership of France and Gabon. He was accompanied by two French Liaison Officers based at the Centre, who contribute to ongoing international cooperation efforts.

The plenary session provided a valuable platform for dialogue among international partners, reinforcing the importance of coordinated action and information sharing to enhance maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.
