Brazilian Authorities Seize Semi-Submersible in Remote Area of the State of Pará

A joint operation by the Federal Police, Air Force, and the Brazilian Navy resulted in the seizure of a semi-submersible that was being prepared to cross the Atlantic to Europe, carrying a significant amount of cocaine. This operation follows the seizure of 6 tons of cocaine aboard a similar vessel, last March by Portuguese authorities.

After extensive international cooperation, Brazilian authorities were able to identify and locate the semi-submersible and launch the operation that led to its seizure and the arrest of five individuals belonging to the criminal organization.

It is believed that the two cases are connected and that this operation dealt another major blow to this specific organization, which is responsible for sending significant quantities of cocaine from remote areas of Brazil to Europe.

This major operational success was only possible thanks to international police cooperation, which, in addition to the aforementioned Brazilian authorities, also involved Spanish National Police, the Judicial Police from Portugual, and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
