French authorities seize 1328Kg of cocaine in the Caribbean.

A joint operation carried out by the French authorities stationed in the Caribbean has resulted in the seizure of 1328Kg of cocaine on board a sailing vessel.

On the last 10th of September, following a sighting by a maritime patrol aircraft deployed to relocate a suspect vessel, the French Navy asset Dumont D’Urville successfully intercepted a Spanish-flagged sailing vessel approximately 340 nautical miles east of Martinique.

Following the boarding carried out by the French team, three crew members were identified and 47 bales with cocaine were found on board. The vessel was subsequently escorted to Fort-de-France, where the three suspects and the illicit cargo were handed over to the competent judicial authority.

This operation involved the participation of the French armed forces stationed in the Caribbean, the Customs (DNRED), the anti-drugs office (OFAST) and international partners.
