On 29 August, the French Navy intercepted a fishing vessel in international waters off the coast of West Africa, seizing 5919 kg of cocaine.
The operation was carried out at the request of the French authorities (OFAST) and followed intelligence provided by the UK (NCA) and US authorities (DEA), with the support of MAOC-N and the Brazilian Federal Police.
This seizure once again confirms the West African coast as a prominent hub for drug trafficking, a route that MAOC-N and its partners have been actively working to disrupt through coordinated maritime operations and intelligence sharing.
The success of this operation underscores the effectiveness of international cooperation in tackling large-scale maritime drug trafficking and preventing narcotics from reaching European markets through the transatlantic route.
