Earlier this month, the French Navy intercepted a fishing vessel in the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in the seizure of 1375 kg of cocaine and the arrest of the individuals on board, who were subsequently handed over to the Brazilian authorities during a scheduled port call.
The vessel was operating on a route from South America towards Europe when it was interdicted in international waters.
This successful operation, supported by MAOC-N, was triggered by intelligence shared through the Centre and developed in close cooperation between the French National Directorate for Customs Investigations and Intelligence (DNRED), the French Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST), the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA), and the United States’ Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S).
This case stands as a clear demonstration of the decisive impact of international intelligence-sharing and coordinated operational action, while further underscoring MAOC-N’s central role in disrupting transatlantic cocaine trafficking networks.
