MAOC-N recently welcomed Ms Floriana Sipala, Director for Internal Security and European Commission Counter Terrorism Coordinator, for an official visit to the Centre’s headquarters.
During the visit, Ms Sipala was briefed on recent MAOC-N supported operations and on the latest maritime drug-trafficking trends that continue to threaten European borders and internal security.
The meeting was an important opportunity to discuss MAOC-N’s contribution to the EU Drugs Strategy and Action Plan against drug trafficking, adopted by the Commission on December 4th. Both sides explored how the Centre’s operational work, intelligence capabilities and multinational cooperation can support the priorities set out in this strategy and respective action plans.
MAOC-N has been funded since 2007 by the EU’s Internal Security Fund (ISF), which is a financing instrument managed under DG HOME portfolio, designed to support actions that reinforce internal security across the European Union.
