MAOC-N recently welcomed to its Headquarters in Lisbon a Colombian Delegation composed of the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Colombia in Portugal, Elba Pacheco, and Colonel Adriana Gisela Paz Fernández, the Colombian National Police Attaché.
The delegation was received by MAOC-N’s Executive Director and senior representatives of the Centre, who delivered a comprehensive briefing on MAOC-N’s mission and operational role in countering maritime drug trafficking. In turn, the Colombian delegation presented the Estratégia Esmeralda, the Colombian National Police’s anti-narcotics strategy aimed at reinforcing cooperation against drug production and trafficking at national and international levels.
Discussions focused on the longstanding and constructive cooperation between MAOC-N and the Colombian authorities, notably within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Centre and the Colombian National Police in 2023. The briefing covered ongoing operational developments, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and key areas where enhanced collaboration can further strengthen joint responses to evolving maritime drug-trafficking dynamics.
The visit further consolidated the partnership between MAOC-N and Colombia, reinforcing channels of operational dialogue and underscoring the importance of continued strategic engagement in the years ahead.
