The Executive Director of MAOC (N) travelled to Ecuador to sign two Memoranda of Understanding (one with Ecuador’s National Police, and another one with Ecuador’s Navy) and to attend the official launch of the Fusion Centre, which was established under the EU-funded EUFORT-EC project and brings together key national authorities to monitor and assess maritime security threats, with a particular focus on maritime drug trafficking.
The agreement builds on the recent visit of an Ecuadorian delegation to MAOC (N) headquarters and establishes a framework for enhanced intelligence sharing, exchange of best practices and coordinated operational approaches.
MAOC (N) has actively supported the establishment and operational development of the Ecuadorian Fusion Centre, providing technical guidance and sharing best practices drawn from its own experience as a platform for maritime intelligence and coordination.
