MAOC-N supports Spanish cocaine seizure on two sailing vessels

Last week, the Special Operations Vessel ‘Fulmar’ of the Spanish Customs Surveillance Service conducted two maritime operations which resulted in the seizure of 1.100Kg of cocaine in the Atlantic.

This operation is a result of joint efforts by the Spanish Customs (DAVA), the National Police and the Guardia Civil in close cooperation with international partners from the US Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the British National Crime Agency (NCA). The operation was coordinated through MAOC-N.

This was a remarkable maritime operation, not only due to the rough sea conditions at the time but also because the crew of the FULMAR had to perform a second boarding while towing another sailing vessel that had been seized in the previous days. Both sailing vessels, respective crews and cocaine seized were escorted to Tenerife where they were handed over to the competent judicial authorities.
