A joint operation between the Guardia Civil, Policia Nacional and DAVA (Customs), with the support of the Spanish Navy, has resulted in the interception of the vessel NEHIR in the Bay of Biscay and the seizure of approximately 3,000Kg of cocaine.
The final destination of the vessel was believed to be the Galician coast, where the illicit cargo would have been picked up by other vessels belonging to the same criminal organisation.
When the Spanish boarding team intercepted the vessel, its crew tried to sink the ship. However, the intervention team was able to recover approximately 3 tons of cocaine. All 9 crew members were arrested.
This operation is the result of close international cooperation between MAOC (N) Partner Countries.
