Over Seven Tonnes of Cocaine Seized by the French Navy in the Atlantic

In recent days, a maritime operation carried out by the French Forces in the Caribbean, has resulted in the interception of a stateless fishing vessel in the Atlantic.

Upon boarding the target, French operatives discovered 250 bales containing a total of 7,056 kilograms of cocaine.

The six crew members and the illicit cargo were taken to Fort-de-France (Martinique), in accordance with French judicial procedures relating to drug trafficking.

The operation, led by the admiral commanding the Antilles maritime zone under the authority of the Prefect of Martinique, the Government’s delegate for State action at sea, benefited from close inter-agency cooperation and intelligence provided by the French National Directorate of Intelligence and Customs Investigations (DNRED). The judicial investigation has been assigned to the Caribbean division of the Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST).

To date in 2025, the French Forces in the Caribbean jointly have seized nearly 30 tonnes of cocaine.
