In recent days, Portuguese authorities, working in close cooperation with the Danish Police and the Spanish National Police, carried out a major operation that led to the interception of a sailing vessel in Portimão (Portugal) and the seizure of approximately 1300 kg of cocaine destined for Denmark. The operation also resulted in the seizure of two vessels and three vehicles, as well as the arrest of ten individuals.
Parallel and coordinated action on Danish territory led to the arrest of an additional suspect and 21 house searches.
Supported by MAOC-N, this coordinated effort dealt a significant blow to a criminal organisation operating across Northern and Southern Europe, further highlighting the Centre’s role as a multinational platform for information exchange and operational coordination in the fight against large-scale maritime drug trafficking towards Europe.
This seizure reflects the continued scale of maritime cocaine flows into Europe and reinforces the importance of sustained and robust international cooperation.
