Spanish authorities seize over 4 tonnes of cocaine in the Atlantic, supported by MAOC-N

On February 10th, 2024, the Spanish Customs Surveillance Customs, in a joint operation with the National Police and the Civil Guard, successfully intercepted and seized over 4 tonnes of cocaine on board a go-fast vessel in the Atlantic Ocean.

After intense chasing, the Spanish patrol boat PETREL I was able to intercept the target approximately 500nm South of the Canary Islands, resulting in the seizure of 4350kg of cocaine – distributed through 145 bales – and the arrest of 4 crew members.

This successful operation was possible through extensive international cooperation between the aforementioned Spanish law enforcement agencies, the National Crime Agency from the UK and the US Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA), supported by MAOC-N.
