UK Minister for Europe and Americas at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office visits MAOC-N

Her Excellency Mrs. Wendy Morton visited MAOC-N this week in the company of the UK Ambassador to Portugal, His Excellency Mr. Christopher James Sainty, in an initiative that served to showcase the Centre’s efforts in combating maritime drug trafficking and to present the UK’s decisive contribution to the results achieved over the last 14 years.

During her visit to Lisbon, the Minister had the opportunity to meet the MAOC-N team and to see first-hand how the Centre’s partner countries cooperate to address the longstanding security issues posed by criminal organisations involved in international maritime drug trafficking. The visit was also an excellent opportunity to raise awareness for the current challenges faced by the European authorities, to underline the role of the United Kingdom at MAOC-N and to reinforce international cooperation as the way forward in the fight against illicit trafficking.
