Visit of the Director of Counternarcotics of the Colombian Navy to MAOC-N

On his way to Vienna to attend a side event held in the margins of the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), the Director of Counternarcotics of the Colombian Navy visited MAOC-N in Lisbon, hosted by the Centre’s Executive Director and Head of Operations.

The visit highlighted the longstanding and constructive operational cooperation between MAOC-N and the Colombian Navy (Armada de Colombia), which has been ongoing since 2018. Discussions focused on maritime drug-trafficking developments and the continued importance of close coordination between the two to address evolving criminal dynamics across the Atlantic.

During the visit, MAOC-N provided a briefing on ongoing operational developments, intelligence-sharing mechanisms and the Centre’s role in supporting coordinated interdiction efforts at sea. Particular attention was given to areas where enhanced collaboration could further strengthen joint responses to maritime drug-trafficking activities.

The visit further consolidated the partnership between MAOC-N and Colombia, reinforcing channels of operational dialogue and underscoring the importance of continued strategic engagement in the years ahead.
