On April 5th, 2023, the high seas patrol Premier L’Her of the French Navy seized more than 4.7 tonnes of cocaine on board a vessel named MED SEA LION, a freighter flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The drugs, which were ultimately destined for the European market, were apprehended off the African coast, north of the Equator.
The seizure was carried out by the French Navy in coordination with MAOC-N and the National Directorate of Intelligence and Customs Investigations (DNRED), and in close international collaboration with the Brazilian Federal Police and Interpol.
According to the French Navy, “the perfect cooperation between the national and international players in the fight against narcotics, in particular MAOC-N, made it possible to obtain this result”.
