On the evening of 05/07/2023, the French surveillance frigate Ventôse intercepted a sailing vessel off Martinique that was carrying 317 kg of cocaine.
The inspection team, along with the specialized maritime intervention team, noted the presence of suspicious bundles on board the vessel, which ultimately tested positive for cocaine. The two crew members, the cargo and the vessel were taken to Fort-de-France by the Ventôse and handed over to the OFAST branch of the Caribbean on July 8th.
The seizure was carried out by the French authorities (Navy, OFAST, and Forces Armées aux Antilles) in coordination with MAOC-N and in close international collaboration with the UK, Portuguese, Spanish, Irish, and Dutch authorities.
