In the last days, a joint operation conducted by the Spanish authorities has resulted in the seizure of 200 Kg of cocaine on board a Venezuelan vessel.
The interdiction took place in international waters off the Canary Islands, and was made possible through joint efforts by the Spanish National Police, Guardia Civil and the Customs Surveillance Service (SVA). The sole crew member, of Portuguese nationality, has been arrested and will be handed over to the competent authorities upon arrival in the Canaries.
This is another successful maritime operation executed by the “Petrel”, the Spanish Customs (SVA) asset that has been instrumental for several significant drug seizures in the north Atlantic over the past years. The international drug trafficking investigation was supported by MAOC (N) with contribution from several partners.
