In the early hours of Saturday the 27th of March, a maritime operation conducted by Spanish Customs (DAVA) resulted in the seizure of 18,000kg of hashish on board the fishing vessel ALBATROS, sailing under the flag of Panama.
The vessel departed from the Netherlands and was profiled after its passage along the Galician coast, drawing the attention of Spanish Customs’ maritime intelligence services, who monitored the target up until its interception 170 nautical miles off the Canary Islands.
The crew, composed of Ukrainian nationals, were arrested.
In addition to the Spanish authorities, this operation was also supported by French Customs (DNRED), in close collaboration with the Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre (MAOC-N).
