French Navy seizes nearly 1.2 tonnes of cocaine from sailing vessel in the Caribbean Sea with the support of MAOC-N

On the 8th of June, 2024, the French Navy patrol vessel DUMONT D’URVILLE, which is stationed in the Caribbean, seized nearly 1.2 tonnes of cocaine from a 13 metre-long sailing vessel just 32nm East of Mustique Island (St. Vincent and the Grenadines).

On board the French-flagged sailing vessel, found out to be named TOMY, the authorities discovered 40 bales of cocaine amounting to a total weight of 1155.9kg. 3 crew members were also arrested and presented to the competent judicial authorities.

This successful operation comes from close cooperation and intelligence sharing between the French and the Italian authorities, through their respective agencies – DNRED, OFAST and the Guardia di Finanza – as well as the Venezuelan authorities, with the support of MAOC-N.
