In an unprecedented joint operation last Sunday, the Brazilian Federal Police, with the operational support of the Brazilian Navy, intercepted a sailing vessel off the coast of Recife (Brazil), resulting in the seizure of 2.2 tons of cocaine and the arrest of 5 crew members.
The final destination of the drugs was believed to be the European market.
This seizure is the result of close international cooperation between MAOC-N, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Brazilian Federal Police, working together in both the exchange of intelligence and operational coordination.
