The French Navy – working together with the anti-drugs office (OFAST) and DNRED – managed to secure another important cocaine seizure, in an area that has been particularly problematic in recent years.
On 04/03/2024, a French amphibious helicopter carrier seized 894kg of cocaine on a sailing vessel in the Gulf of Guinea, after a Falcon plane from the French Navy spotted and identified the 15-metre vessel mid-Atlantic.
This large-scale operation was carried out on the basis of intelligence provided by the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the British National Crime Agency (NCA), and in cooperation with the Portuguese, Spanish, and the Brazilian authorities.
This operation, which had the support of MAOC-N, exemplifies the effectiveness of international cooperation in dismantling organised crime networks.
