On the 30th of August the Italian authorities, supported by intelligence provided by the Spanish and UK authorities, conducted a maritime operation resulting in the seizure of 100kg of cannabis
The Bulgarian flagged sailing vessel was intercepted and boarded by the Cagliari Provincial Command of the “Guardia di Finanza” and the two crew members, also Bulgarian, were arrested
The inspection uncovered numerous packages containing over 100kg of cannabis, hidden under the deck. The 17 metre sailing vessel was seized
The operation was the result of patrolling activities carried out by units of the Aeronaval Operations Department (ROAN) and the Cagliari Aeronaval Group, engaged on a daily basis in the control of maritime areas to tackle illegal trafficking.
