Last night, following information shared through MAOC-N, the Spanish authorities conducted a maritime operation off Santander, resulting in the interception and subsequent seizure of a sailing vessel with 2 tonnes of cocaine on board.
The joint effort of the Spanish authorities prevented the illicit cargo from being transferred to other vessels, which would be responsible for transporting the drugs to the coast. The 4 crew members, with Spanish, Venezuelan and Colombian nationality were arrested.
The 13-metre long ‘sloop’ ‘Night Fall’, flying a British flag, was located as part of an international operation and boarded by the patrol boat ‘Alcaraván I’, based in Santander and belonging to the Customs Surveillance Service.
This maritime operation was conducted jointly by the Spanish authorities (Customs – DAVA, Guardia Civil and National Police), in cooperation with the British National Crime Agency (NCA), working together within the scope of MAOC-N.
