As of March 31st, 2024, MAOC-N proudly welcomes Germany into its fold of partner countries. With this accession, Germany joins France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom in a united front against drug trafficking in the Atlantic and Mediterranean maritime and aerial domains.
Germany’s accession to MAOC-N reflects the strategy of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior to effectively intertwine the work of federal security agencies with European and international partners, specifically directed to fight against organised crime structures.
Since its inception in 2007, MAOC-N has been playing a pivotal role in identifying, disrupting, and dismantling the command-and-control structures of transnational organized crime networks engaged in drug trafficking. The addition of Germany as a partner country further strengthens MAOC-N’s ability to tackle the complex challenges posed by transnational drug trafficking.
Germany will now be permanently represented at the Centre by a liaison officer from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). This permanent representation ensures real-time exchange of information and operational coordination within the framework of MAOC-N.
