The Ambassador of Ireland to Portugal Alma NíChoigligh, who is also the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), was recently received by the Executive Director of MAOC-N at the Centre’s headquarters in Lisbon.
During her visit to MAOC-N, the Ambassador was briefed on some of the Centre’s current operations and the latest drug trafficking trends by sea and air.
The meeting reaffirmed the excellent cooperation between the Irish authorities and MAOC-N, acknowledging the critical role played by Ireland in fighting maritime drug trafficking in the Atlantic.
As one of the founding countries, Ireland has been a key strategic partner of MAOC-N, having contributed with valuable intelligence in operations coordinated through the Centre and facilitating international cooperation in the context of maritime drug trafficking.
