MAOC-N recently took part in the European Police Chiefs Convention at Europol’s Headquarters in The Hague, bringing together more than 500 police chiefs and law enforcement delegates from 59 countries and 15 international organisations.
Following a proposal from the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, MAOC-N was invited to contribute to a panel on ‘Police-Customs interagency cooperation (including international cooperation)’, moderated by Ms Maura Kiely, Revenue Commissioner, Ireland.
David Walsh, Assistant Principal Officer, Revenue Commissioners, Irish Tax and Customs, and Joseph O’Reilly, Detective Superintendent, An Garda Síochána, joined Jean-Damien Moustier, Head of Operations at MAOC-N, for the discussion. He presented the structure and role of MAOC-N, the diverse trafficking routes and modi operandi identified through its operational work, and highlighted how the Centre provides a strong example of effective inter-agency and international cooperation in tackling transnational drug trafficking.
The convention provided a valuable opportunity to exchange expertise with law enforcement partners and reinforce the importance of coordinated international action against evolving security threats.
