MAOC-N Welcomes the Force Commander of the Combined Task Force in the Gulf Of Guinea

The Executive Director of MAOC-N recently welcomed Commodore Mohammad Shettima, the Force Commander of the Combined Maritime Task Force in the Gulf of Guinea.

Recently inaugurated, the Task Force is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, and already includes 15 countries from the region. Its main mission is to coordinate multinational maritime security operations across one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors.
The discussions focused on the evolving security situation in West Africa, particularly the challenges posed by the limited availability of maritime assets in the region, and how MAOC-N and the Task Force can work together to address them.

This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening international collaboration on maritime security and recognises the need for structured engagement with international partners to ensure an effective, multinational approach to the complex security challenges in the Gulf of Guinea.
