On 17/01/2021 the French Navy frigate “Germinal” , stationed in Martinique, was able to intercept a fishing vessel in international waters, several hundred nautical miles off the Caribbean. 177 bales containing 4.2 tons of cocaine were detected, with eight crew members arrested.
The interception occurred in an area that has been widely used by maritime drug traffickers.
This large-scale joint operation is the result of close international cooperation between the MAOC (N) partner countries working together in intelligence exchange and operational coordination.
